Your liver is one of the most significant organs in your body and is the biggest.  Interestingly, the human has two lobes — the left lobe and the right lobe, which is the more substantial portion.
Chief Functions of the Liver
  • Producing and secreting bile, which contains acids necessary for digestion and absorption of fats and other essential vitamins in the small intestine.
  • Getting rid of cholesterol, bilirubin, hormones, and drugs from your body
  • Breaking down of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates
  • Activating enzyme
  • Storing vitamins, minerals, and glycogen
  • Fusing plasma proteins, such as albumin, and clotting elements
  • Detoxifying to make your blood clean

Do You Keep Your Liver Healthy?
When your liver is inflamed, you have hepatitis. It develops due to too much intake of drugs, alcohol, virus, and other medical issues. People with hepatitis experience nausea, being exhausted quickly, poor appetite, pain around the belly, fever, and the most apparent is skin or eyes discoloration — turning yellow.

On a side note, the liver issue caused by the virus is linked to four forms, such as the following:
  • Hepatitis A:  This disease is a less dangerous type of hepatitis is highly transmissible. If neglected, the condition will result in the death of the person. People acquire the virus through food or water that is contaminated by the virus. Moreover, hepatitis A outbreak happens in daycare centers due to not washing hands after changing diapers. The contaminant is commonly present in raw food.
  • Hepatitis B: This is a type of hepatitis that is transmitted through blood or body fluid contact. It has been noted that the common cause of hepatitis B infection is because of unprotected sex and having multiple sexual activities with partners. The disease starts as an acute infection (a condition that lasts up to 6 months) and can be treated to prevent turning into a chronic infection. Conversely, if hepatitis B is left untreated, it develops into a chronic infection (long term condition that lasts more than 6 months or so).
  • Hepatitis C: This disease is like hepatitis B that spread through blood and body fluid contact. Unlike hepatitis B, the C type is the most silent killer. Some infected individuals don’t see noticeable signs that they have the virus.  When the person has the virus, there is a higher probability for the person to experience a chronic infection that poses a very high risk to the human liver.
  • Hepatitis D: This is a rare disease that is caused by an incomplete virus that necessitates the help of hepatitis B to replicate. In other words, hepatitis D infection only occurs to people suffering from hepatitis B.

How to Prevent Hepatitis
Washing your hands regularly is critical for everyone’s health. When you start noticing the symptoms of hepatitis, seek a medical specialist, and you should undergo testing. You and your partner must have hepatitis B vaccination to ensure that no one gets infected. Unfortunately, the vaccine for Hepatitis C isn’t available yet as of now.

Bonus Info
Medicare is a federal insurance program. Previously, the program only provides payment for seniors for hepatitis B vaccination. The analysis to determine if the individual is infected and necessitate a life-saving medical help was not covered. But now, the federal health insurance assistance is covering hepatitis B testing in at-risk senior citizens of the US.

Get the necessary health insurance plan from a trusted insurance provider. You deserve to recover quicker to continue living a healthy life.
